Founders

Seeds Consulting Ltd was founded in 2014 by Professor Nahed Taher as the CEO and Dr. Mohammed Salisu as Chief Economist. The team consists of experts in economics, finance, management and information technology with experience in industry and academia.

Dr. Nahed Taher was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gulf One Investment Bank in Bahrain and Chairman of Gulf One Capital in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Taher holds a doctorate (PhD) in Financial Economics and an honorary professorship of Management from Lancaster University in the UK. She also obtained Master's degree (MSc) in International Economics from King Abdul-Aziz University Jeddah and yet another MSc in Economics from the University of Lancaster in the UK.

 

Dr. Taher was an Associate Professor at King Abdul-Aziz University where she had been teaching since 1990. She also worked with Saudi Arabia's National Commercial Bank (NCB) as Senior Strategy Economist and Chairman of the Portfolio Management Committee. In 2005, Dr. Taher became the CEO of Gulf One Investment Bank, becoming the first woman to lead a bank in the Gulf Cooperation Council region.

 

Dr. Taher sits on boards and committees of a number of national and international institutions and organizations, including King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre; International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland; Saudi-German Business Group; Moya Water Company; and the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, Saudi Arabia's Supreme body on the Environment.

 

Dr. Taher has also been ranked by Forbes Magazine and the UK Financial Times among the top business women in the world for various years.

Dr. Mohammed Salisu

Co-Founder & Chief Economist

Mohammed Salisu obtained a PhD in economics from Lancaster University. He was an associate professor in economics at Lancaster Management School from 1998 until 2004 when he joined the African Development Bank (AfDB) as principal research economist (2004-2007). He later joined Gulf One Investment Bank (Bahrain) as chief economist and head of research (2007-2014).

 

He is the author of over 40 papers and book chapters and over 20 special economic reports. His scholarly work in economics, business and finance has contributed tremendously to organisational growth and policy-oriented debates. He established strong research collaboration with a wide range of agencies, including the World Bank, Center for European Policy Research in Brussels, Gulf Research Center, and several educational institutions including Gulf One Lancaster Centre for Economic Research (GOLCER) at Lancaster University to faciliate quality research and capacity building training services.

 

He is highly experienced in using high powered econometric models to assess and analyse global, regional and national economic developments and high-frequency data on equity, currency and commodity markets to aid policy analysis and investment decision making. He brings with him business and operational experience in economic development, investment banking, international trade and international business, with substantial exposure to research analyses at multilateral development banks and private sector financial institutions.
